Visiting Quaff is also a chance to tour elegant Government House, which is not often open to the public. The public rooms at Government House provide the backdrop for this exhibition, with works displayed on plinths amongst the historic furnishings. The works in QUAFF were selected by a three-person independent jury. “QUAFF is a powerful reminder of the ceramic talent in our province,” says juror Sandra Alfoldy, Associate Curator of Fine Craft at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. Juror Mariko Paterson adds, “I hope these works filter into the show circuit both nationally and beyond.” Throughout the Nocturne evening, ceramic artists from the Potters Guild will demonstrate two techniques for creating with clay: throwing on a potter’s wheel and hand-building.
