Morgan Sheppard, Wave Ceramics
Enfield, Nova Scotia
“My pottery journey started while working in the media industry in Toronto in 2019. A member studio opened up around the corner from my apartment and when I saw the sign on the window for lessons I knew it was my opportunity to give pottery a try. I enrolled in a beginner wheel-throwing class and fell in love with the challenge of it all. After having my son and moving home to Nova Scotia, I took the plunge and bought a wheel and soon after a kiln. Wave Ceramics was quickly born and I am now selling online, at markets and in boutiques in Ontario and Nova Scotia.” Inspired by the pieces she envisions in her own home, Morgan Sheppard approaches her artform with an open mind, letting each piece find its unique identity. Out of her home studio in Enfield, Nova Scotia, she creates functional, small-batch ceramics with intriguing forms – useful vessels intended to bring joyful experiences to your kitchen or table. A vase embracing a fresh bouquet. A bowl of soul-warming soup. A candle holder catching drips from a gentle glow. Each piece is as unique as the person who sees it and says, “this was made for me”.
