Tim Worthington
Mahone Bay, NS
In 1977, after graduating from NSCAD as the first MFA student in Ceramics, Tim Worthington and Pam Birdsall set up the pottery on Main Street in Mahone Bay, N.S. Using a local earthenware clay exclusively, since 1977, they make a wide variety of functional and decorative pottery. They are dedicated slipware potters, decorating with coloured slips, underglazes and coloured transparent glazes using trailing, feathering, sponging, brushing and sgraffitto. They specialize in custom order items celebrating significant events like births, graduations, weddings and anniversaries. Tim also makes commemorative plates with hand painted portraits of dogs, boats and houses that have become treasured family heirlooms. Tim describes himself as a “closeted” watercolour painter and has used underglazes to feed his desire to paint.
