Ray Mackie

Ray Mackie has been a potter and artist for over 5 decades. He taught art in Newfoundland for 19 years, before moving to Annapolis Royal in 1999 with his partner, Debra Kuzyk, where they started Lucky Rabbit Pottery. Ray retired from the business side of pottery, and now he is free from retail and quantity considerations. He has been experimenting with alternative firing techniques, and researching glaze effects and high temperature firing using wood as a fuel. He would say that he is entering his mature period as an artisan. He has had many exhibitions and his work is held in both public and privater collections. He holds a master of fine arts from Indiana State University, and lives and works close to Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia.
