Meg Bennett
Meg Bennett is a Nova Scotian ceramic artist who uses clay to explore her passion for plants. Her work is inspired by nature; biological patterns, flora and fauna, and environmental causes. She enjoys using many varied techniques from large scale sculptural work to thrown and moulded forms, detailed carving and sgraffito work to bright juicy glazes. Her ceramic practice is based in a love of the earth, the muddy soil from which grows her medium, her subjects and her inspiration. Flowers are a particular fascination for her; their colour and shape, and the meanings they can acquire and communicate. Her work explores combinations of flowers and their symbolic meanings. Using high contrast techniques like sgraffito, she explores the fascinating shapes of flowers alone or in combination with each other. Meg Bennett received her BFA in Ceramics from NSCAD University in 2021, and plans to do a Masters in Ceramics.
