Deborah Wheeler, Ostrea Lake Pottery

I have been a full time studio potter since 1980. Ran my own craft shop that carried mostly my work but accented with other Craft NS member’s work for 3 summers. I have sold my work at many shows and shops in the Maritimes. Attended York University -Fine Art, Visual Art -B ed (72-73), Sheridan College, School of Design 73-75 and BFA from NSCAD University 1976. During 1978 – 1998 I taught ceramics classes with Halifax and Dartmouth Continuing Education and NSCAD continuing education.

I have been a juried member of Craft NS since 1983, volunteered with the standards committee and the Board on and off since 1985 and recently stepped down from the position of President. I am also a member of Nova Scotia Potter’s Guild. My work has been accepted into several of the Guild’s and Craft NS shows I was a board member of Spectrum Fine Art and Craft (cooperative store) 1993 – 1996. I was the NS representative to Canadian Craft Federation for 3 years.
