Susan Delatour,

Corkums Island, Nova Scotia

Susan Delatour has worked in clay for over 40 years, earning her BA in Arts, Crafts and their History at UC Santa Cruz, Ca. and did post graduate studies at The Sun Valley Centre for Arts Idaho and The Banff Centre. She owned and operated studios in BC, before moving to Nova Scotia in 2022.

Her hand built boats, houses and figurative pieces often are smoke-fired in sawdust, creating a timeless quality and a sense of prehistory. The random flashing of smoke patterns that occur enhance the enigma and spontaneity of the work.

Susan was a member of the Fired-Up! Contemporary Works in Clay, a collective group of BC’s prominent ceramic artists for 29 years.

Her unique sculptures have been exhibited nationally and internationally including across Canada, the US, Scotland, Taiwan and Korea.  Susan is thrilled to have moved to the South Shore and her studio on Corkums Island is open by appointment.
