This piece was inspired by word dice my daughter Leah Benetti made while busking as a poet. I loved the idea of rolling the dice to get a word or a decision. She helped me by pressing the alphabits (pasta) into the clay while I sorted through the box finding the letters as the light levels got lower and the bugs
began to find us.

These four letter words largely reference the events in our community over the last 4 months. The shape represents all the
empty seating as our events and gatherings are cancelled and curtailed; schools closed. We have chosen the current word configuration, but each die is it’s own unique set. Roll the dice and create your own. There are nouns, verbs, and, of course the proverbial four letter words.

This piece reflects how I feel in the world at the moment. And I have been here before. Which side is up? Which side is down? The pressure to hold everything up on your own, when the weight of holding it is crushing. Hands and feet morph into one.
