NSPG Events Coordinator role
Overview: The Nova Scotia Potters Guild (NSPG) is seeking a passionate and creative Events Coordinator to join our team on a voluntary basis. This is a unique opportunity for an individual with a love for pottery, community engagement, and event planning. While this is a volunteer position, the coordinator will have the opportunity to earn a percentage of the profits from the events they successfully curate, making this both a rewarding and sustainable role.

Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning and Management: Plan, organize, and execute events such as pottery workshops, exhibitions, member meet-ups, and fundraising activities that align with NSPG’s mission and values.
Budgeting and Profit Management: Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maximizing profitability to allow re-investment into the NSPG. Track event expenses, revenues and ensure a transparent process.
Vendor and Venue Coordination: Identify and liaise with venues, vendors, and partners. Secure locations, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships with suppliers.
Marketing and Promotion: Create promotional materials, manage social media campaigns, and drive event attendance in collaboration with other NSPG board members and leverage the NSPG’s membership to attract participants.
Volunteer Coordination: If required for events, recruit, train, and manage volunteers for event execution. Delegate tasks and ensure smooth operations during events.
Participant Engagement: Engage with guild members and the public to promote participation. Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere at all events.
Post-Event Reporting: Evaluate the success of each event through feedback surveys, financial analysis, and participant satisfaction. Report findings to the NSPG board and recommend improvements for future events.
Qualifications:
Event Planning Experience: Previous experience in event planning, coordination, or related fields is preferred.
Passion for the Arts: A genuine interest in pottery and the arts, with a strong desire to support and grow the pottery community in Nova Scotia.
Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively to ensure all aspects of event planning are covered.
Financial Acumen: Basic understanding of budgeting and expense management to ensure events are financially successful.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with stakeholders, vendors, and participants.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with NSPG board members, volunteers, and community partners.
Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, depending on event schedules.
