I came onto pottery by chance. The summer of 1978 we moved from Nova Scotia to Ontario. A huge life altering change for me. After 20 years working for the same company I was ready for a new beginning.
With open mind I arrived at Georgian College in Barrie. Walking into the ceramic department was like a home coming. I returned the following day and stayed for three years.
It is difficult to say why we do things, however until today I feel I’ve committed myself to clay forever, it is the fascination to make something from the most common material in the world, You dig it from the ground and creating is limitless.
The other fascination is you never stop learning, it is always new it is always different. I will struggle with disappointments and enjoy successes.
It is my life I feel blessed.
I work in stoneware and porcelain thrown on the wheel or hand build and sometime a combination of the two. The firing is done in a gas kiln in reduction atmosphere. All my functional pots are oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. The sculptured pieces are suitable for home and garden.
