My introduction to clay (1977) began with a hand-building class where I made two boxes and the “pinch pot”. I traded the pinch pot for a pair of socks. Who knew what fortunes lay ahead?
Some of that fortune I discovered at NSCAD’s adult education program fortified by additional classes “across the street” at NSCAD, Historic Properties, and being raised in rural N.S., Bear River.
In 1995 “Wild Rice Pottery” began full time with the support of Norma, encouraged by Betsy and Ed Goodstein of Grand Pre Pottery.
Each year stoneware clay gets mixed, glazes stirred, pots get fired up to 1260 C / 2300 F in a down draft reduction kiln.
Such a rich life how could I not turn on the wheel?
